Meet Our Team

Dr Sophie Cornelissen
BVM BVS BVMedSci PGCert (VPS) Cert AVP MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon & Practice Owner
READ SOPHIE'S BIO
Sophie grew up near Delamere Forest and after graduating from The University of Nottingham in 2017 moved to South-West London to work in a small animal first opinion practice. In September 2020, she moved back home and joined a small animal hospital, where the busier caseload gave her more experience in all the day-to-day services offered as well as emergency care and surgery. This led to two years working the night shift at a busy out of hours practice in Chester and during this time, she completed the Advanced Veterinary Practitioner qualification and post-graduate certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies.
A dog-lover at heart, Sophie has a special interest in chronic pain management, geriatric care and dental work across all species. She is very proud of what she has been able to create at Tattenhall Vets. Living just outside the village, she feels it is an incredibly special opportunity to integrate independent, empathetic veterinary care into village life and to create close bonds with clients and their animals. Sophie encourages the whole team to share in this ideal every day.
Sophie lives with her husband George, the practice manager, and their pets: a labrador called Rom, Nelson, the one-eyed rescue terrier and Sherman the cat. She is happiest when outside, whether hiking in the mountains of Snowdonia or further afield, playing tennis at the Flacca or spending summer weekends in Anglesey.

Dr Amy Glanvill
BVM BVS BVMedSci PGCert (VPS) Cert AVP MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon & Practice Owner
READ AMY'S BIO
Amy graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2016 and started her career as a farm animal vet in her home county of Devon. A year later, she moved to Cheshire before deciding on a new career path working in a busy first-opinion small animal practice.
Here, she developed an interest in surgery and critical care which led her to take on a position treating the sick pets of Chester in a large multi-disciplinary hospital. During this time she completed the Advanced Veterinary Practitioner qualification and post-graduate certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies.
Amy is our cat advocate, with a special interest in feline behaviour, but can’t wait to meet all the pets that pass through the doors here at Tattenhall Vets. She prides herself on creating a close knit, passionate team who provide a caring and welcoming environment for each and every pet and their owner.
Amy lives with her husband James and their cocker spaniel Phoebe and rescue cat Evie. She loves being outdoors, especially by the sea or walking in the Bickerton Hills followed by a drink at The Pheasant Inn!

George Martyn
BA AIA
Practice Manager & Owner
READ GEORGE'S BIO
George grew up in Tarporley before moving to Exeter for university, graduating in 2013. Having spent seven years in London working in various business consulting roles, he moved to Tattenhall with his wife Sophie in September 2020 to escape the city and get back home.
As an observer of the veterinary profession from the outside, he has seen the rise of the corporate veterinary groups and the impact they have on their staff. Over the dinner table a week after their wedding, the plan was hatched to open an independent practice run by people in the community, for people in the community. His aim is to help develop a first-class service to those in the local area, delivered by a team that lives in and cares about Tattenhall.
Being married to a vet means only one thing – a house full of animals! Having moved back from London with only a cat, one pet quickly became three after Sophie rescued an injured terrier from a previous practice and then found it impossible to resist a labrador from a litter of pups in Milton Green.
George is sports mad, being able to watch any sport going on in front of him, although rugby is his real passion. Whilst no longer playing, he is just as happy at a big international game as he is on the sidelines watching the 2nd XV at Chester RUFC.

Claire Rees
Head RVN CertVNECC
Head Veterinary Nurse
READ CLAIRE'S BIO
Claire joins us as head nurse at TVP, bringing with her over 15 years of experience within the veterinary industry. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2013 and has since achieved additional qualifications in emergency and critical care and clinical coaching. In 2016, she pursued a lifelong dream of backpacking around Australia where she also gained valuable experience working as a locum veterinary nurse with the animals down-under.
Claire is another feline advocate with a soft spot for Jack Russells (having always grown up with them). She thrives on building strong bonds with both pets and their owners, providing compassionate and expert care. With an interest in training and development, Claire is committed to empowering the nursing team at Tattenhall Vets, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment to deliver excellent standards of veterinary care.
Claire shares her homelife with her husband Tom and their talented rescue cat, Martha. With a little encouragement (and a Dreamie treat), Claire has taught Martha to sit, give high-fives and jump through arms! When not cat training, Claire enjoys keeping fit by hiking, running and bouldering but she’s also equally happy under a blanket with a cup of tea and a sudoku.

Jess’ veterinary career began as a Veterinary Receptionist, she then qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2018. Jess has a particular interest in anaesthesia and she is also passionate about dental care.
Jess lives with her husband Stephen and their Italian Greyhound Albert. They love to spend their weekends outdoors exploring new places. A seaside walk is their ideal day out, even during the winter months! Jess also enjoys reading and gardening in her spare time.
